Editorial Standards

Gather's Explore area separates automatic headline discovery from editorial stories published by Gather. This page explains the intended standards for those sections.

Automatic headline links

The automatic section displays limited headline metadata and links to original publishers. It is a discovery index, not a substitute for the publisher's full reporting. Readers should follow the source link for complete context, updates, and corrections.

Gather editorial stories

Editorial stories should provide value beyond repeating a headline. They should explain the main facts in original language, give relevant context, distinguish confirmed information from uncertainty, and include meaningful analysis or perspective when appropriate. A story should not be published merely to create another indexed page.

Sources and attribution

When a story reports factual news, the editor should identify the original publisher and link to the source. Direct quotations should be limited to what is necessary and clearly attributed. Gather does not claim ownership of reporting produced by linked publishers.

Accuracy and corrections

We aim to avoid misleading headlines and to correct material errors when they are brought to our attention. To request a correction, contact us with the story URL, the statement in question, and supporting evidence. We may update or remove a story after review.

Opinion and transparency

Commentary should be distinguishable from factual reporting. Readers should be able to identify when a page is an editorial summary and where the original report can be found. External links are provided for reader reference and do not imply endorsement.
